Local Information

Norwood, Massachusetts

Originally a hunting ground for native Americans, Norwood was settled by Ezra Morse in 1678, who set up a sawmill in what is now known as South Norwood. Until 1872, it was one of fourteen Eastern Massachusetts communities that lay within the original borders of Dedham, then known as the ‘mother of towns’. Norwood shares its name with a town in the borough of Croydon, South London, England.
