SWINE FLU PRECAUTIONS

By now, you’ve heard about the health concerns caused by the Swine Flu. Please be assured that we are taking these concerns very seriously. Our maintenance contractor, Harvard Maintenance, has taken the following precautions in an attempt to prevent spread of infection:

  • The night cleaning of all common areas, restrooms, and kitchenettes will be sanitized with a hospital grade disinfectant that is used to kill numerous pathogens.
  • The day cleaning activities will include the regular disinfecting of elevator call plates and buttons, elevator interiors, stairwell railings, door handles, restrooms, and other common areas using a Disinfectant Cleaner.

In addition, Purell foam dispensers have been ordered for installation outside of restrooms, and we are researching ultra-violet sanitizing technology for use in central air handling units to determine if it will be effective in all of our properties.

Harvard Maintenance will continue to research additional applications as new information becomes available.

It is believed that the flu is transferred mainly by person to person contact. We urge all employees to take the appropriate actions to safeguard your health, and the health of your families and co-workers. This includes washing your hands frequently with soap and water, covering your nose and mouth while sneezing, and not touching your eyes, nose or mouth, as that accelerates the spread of germs.
