Hobbs Brook’s Dusel Honored with Community Achievement Award by Waltham Chamber of Commerce

By on Jan. 24, 2011

WALTHAM, Mass. – January 24, 2011 – Hobbs Brook Management LLC, a pioneer in the development of office space in the Boston suburbs, announced today that its president and chief operating officer Thomas M. Dusel, CPA, CPM has been recognized by the Waltham West Suburban Chamber of Commerce as the recipient of the 2010 Community Achievement Award. He accepted the award at the Chamber’s 2011 Annual Meeting and Business Luncheon.

As the leader of one of the largest corporate entities in Waltham, Dusel has made a commitment towards giving back to the community that has served as his home away from home for the last 27 years. Under his tutelage, Hobbs Brook Management has actively supported organizations such as the Waltham Lions Club, the Gridiron Club, the Boys & Girls Club, the Waltham YMCA, GW Arc, and the Waltham West Suburban Chamber of Commerce. In addition, the firm supports several local police, fire and rescue departments in Waltham and neighboring communities. Currently, Tom serves as the president of the Waltham Education and Beyond Foundation and sits on the board of the Reagle Music Theatre of Greater Boston.

Always willing to consider opportunities that benefit the surrounding community, Hobbs Brook Management allowed the Waltham Fire Department to conduct training exercises during the demolition phase of its recently completed project at 175-185 Wyman Street. During these supervised exercises emergency personnel hacked through roofs and performed confined space search and rescue drills in the empty building. In September, Hobbs Brook Management was recognized by the Boston Business Journal for its 30 year involvement with the Veterans Affairs Compensated Work Therapy (CWT) Program that helps military veterans transition into a mainstream work environment. In addition, Tom oversaw the donation of more than $200,000 dollars worth of gently used furniture to six locations within the Greater Boston system of YMCA’s. And, in 2010, Hobbs Brook Management supported the Waltham Education and Beyond Foundation as its $10,000 Forever Hawk Sponsor.
